Care and support key to uplifting Alex, says Rays of Hope

ALEXANDRA – Rays of Hope CEO Sihe Mooi says that the public's donations help the organisation to facilitate various programmes that impact the lives of more 2 800 people.

Rays of Hope CEO Sihle Mooi believes care and support are key ingredients towards the goal of bringing lasting change to the community of Alexandra.

Mooi said lasting change speaks to making a real impact in peoples’ lives that’s not only helpful now but sustainable in the future.

The NPO has been working with the community of Alexandra for the past 30 years. In addition to the many programmes that Rays of Hope facilitates – including giving Gogo Mthalo a place she can truly call home or providing meals and groceries to the hungry – programmes like the Young Moms’ Support Group contribute towards a better future for the youth and generations to come, Mooi said.

He explained that breaking the cycles of poverty, violence, abandonment and child abuse in the township starts with nurturing the next generation of mothers through education and emotional support. “This is just one of the initiatives run by Rays of Hope, which needs qualified staff and relevant resources to operate successfully. It’s for this and so many other reasons that we value our partners and their ongoing donations so much. These donations enable us to facilitate various programmes at the same time, impacting the lives of over 2 800 people.”

He concluded, “We would really appreciate your support for these programmes by buying a special Rays of Hope desk calendar to beautify your work (or work-from-home) space – and make a difference while you’re at it, as all proceeds received go straight back into funding all our community programmes.”
