Hlehle Ngubane of Lwethu Posh Paws, a dog grooming parlour, hosted what she said was her successful first-ever Alex Dog Wash Day event in Alexandra on September 19.
Dog owners streamed to the makeshift street parlour on the corner of 12th Avenue and John Brand Street next to the 12th Avenue Church to spoil their best friends with bath and brush, ear and eye cleaning, flea and tick soak, fur trimming and nail clipping.
Ngubane told Alex News she hoped it would become a regular event and when asked how the day went she said, “So far so good for a first event in the township. I kept on passing the message to the various dog owners and lovers that their dogs also need to be shown some love with a constant bath and grooming. The message was well taken.”
Ngubane added that as much as people were told to constantly wash and sanitise their hands during the pandemic, dogs too needed to be washed to keep them clean and healthy.
Dog owners were given a packet of dog food by Ngubane to promote the idea that the pets also needed a nutritious meal.
