Volunteers acknowledged for hard work in rebuilding Alex

ALEXANDRA – They were honoured with certificates of appreciation for their hard work.

Members of We Love Alex Makeover Project and Scientology volunteer ministers met on August 12 to conduct yet another clean up of the streets of Alex after the looting that took place a few weeks ago.

The day started at Alexandra Development Centre where the volunteers met up with We Love Alex members to plan the clean up. More than 100 volunteers took part in the day’s clean-up activities at four locations in Alex.

They were also joined by representatives of Shoprite who wanted to acknowledge all the volunteers by providing food for the day.

The supermarket chain also made food trailers available to feed hundreds of community members.
Lawrence Ruele, vice-president of the We Love Alex Makeover Project who is passionate about helping the community said, “I am so happy that as part of the event we were able to feed everyone with meals from Shoprite.”

After the clean-up, everyone regrouped at the centre where certificates of appreciation were given to the volunteers.
