Yes fights youth unemployment in Alex

ALEXANDRA – Corporates should look no further than Alexandra for quality marketing content creators, says Emery.

One of the Alex youths involved in the Youth Content Collective project and currently undergoing intensive training in marketing content creation has urged corporates to use them for their marketing needs and they will be blown away.

Kgothatso Mahlaku was speaking to Alex News on behalf of his other colleagues soon after the launch of the project which is based at Ulusha Hub at Alex Mall and seeks to empower the youth with content creation skills in photography, videography, and others as filmmakers and illustrators, aged between 18 and 35.

The project is part of the fight against youth unemployment in the country and Alex in particular, under the umbrella of the Youth Employment Services (Yes) in partnership with Momentum Metropolitan Holdings Limited.

Mahlaku, who is part of 50 youth at the training programme, the majority of whom come from Alex while the rest hail from various other townships around Johannesburg, said the youth unemployment fight was a good fight which all those who have the future of this country at heart should join.

“I am calling on corporates to join the fight and give us maximum support as a way of creating employment for the youth and thereby dismantling this ticking time bomb that many often refer to.

“Trust us with your marketing content creation and you will never regret it but instead you will be blown away,” he said.

Mahlaku’s words were echoed by Yes joint CEO Leanne Emery, who said corporates should look no further than Alexandra to create their quality marketing content right here at their doorstep.

“We have amazing talent right here and this talent is yearning for business and above for challenges in their content creation space at this just launched Youth Content Collective,” Emery said in an interview with Alex News at the launch.

Emery said this was the first intake of the programme and Ford South Africa had come to the party to pay stipends for the creatives until such time the members of the project could stand on their own feet. Seed funding for the project was provided by Momentum Metropolitan.
