Hijackers leave victim at Setswetla graveyard

ALEX – Alex police spokesperson Sergeant Simphiwe Mbatha said that they took the victim's sangoma wrapper and wrapped it around his head.

Police detectives are investigating a hijacking case that that occurred on August 7 at about 19:00 on the corner of London and 5th Avenue in Alexandra.

According to Alex police spokesperson Sergeant Simphiwe Mbatha, the victim told the police that he was driving his white Toyota Passo with Botswana registration number B 388 LHB, and when he arrived at one of the residential flats, he saw a man lying on the ground in front the gate preventing him from entering.

“When he stopped, the [man] stood up and came straight to him. The suspect pointed a firearm at him and instructed him to get out of the driver’s seat [and into the back of the vehicle]. The victim said three more unknown [men] who were also armed with firearms climbed in the vehicle and drove away with him.”

Mbatha added that they took the victim’s sangoma cloth and wrapped it around his head. “They stopped, put him in the boot and drove to Setswetla graveyard where they tied him [up] and left him there before driving away.”

One of the suspects has been arrested.
