Ashraful Aid NPO partners with CGL to donate food hampers to Alex Cricket Club

ALEXANDRA – Alex Cricket Club kids and their families will receive the donations, which will last a family of four for two weeks.

Central Gauteng Lions (CGL) in partnership with Ashraful Aid Humanitarian organisation donated 300 food hampers to Alexandra Cricket Club and also conducted a coaching clinic.

CGL marketing, commercial, and communication manager Wanele Mngomezulu said the hampers were given to club cricketers and their families and the food should last two weeks for a family of four.

The cricketing union services amateur cricket in Johannesburg North, Alexandra, Wits, Vaal, South East, Jeppe, and Lenasia.

The donation was intended to provide some relief to communities affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Each food hamper included staple food such as maize meal, cooking oil, baked beans as well as detergents, sanitisers, sanitary apparel, and toothpaste,” Mngomezulu said.

“Covid has definitely changed the lives of communities and citizens where families have been affected hard, including our cricketing communities. We at CGL pride ourselves on various initiatives both on and off the field.”

The handover was held at the club on August 1 together with the coaching clinic which was run by Imperial Lions coach Wandile Gwavu.

The session was assisted by players Jonny Rapulana and Raisibe Ntozakhe

“Many families affected by Covid-19 now have something to eat thanks to Ashraful Aid Humanitarian and CGL,” Mngomezulu concluded.
