Behind the beauty

ALEXANDRA – The show will blend tutorials with inspirational and uplifting stories of successful women.

Alex-born professional make-up artist and beautician, Precious Xaba has struck a big deal with South African cosmetics company, Avon Justine.

Xaba will host masterclass tutorials this Women’s Month on beauty and make-up on YouTube.

She is a renowned beauty expert who has done the make-up of celebrities in TV shows such as Top Billing, Expresso, South African Music Awards and South African Film and Television Awards. Xaba studied somatology and majored in make-up at Face to Face Beauty & Make-up Design School in Centurion.

“I’ve also done make-up consultations for Metro FM Awards and have been featured on magazines such as Elle, Woman24, Clubx and Essays of Africa, and have been in the business of beauty since the age of 19, hence beauty is all I know,” said Xaba. “I’ve just recently become a qualified educator with a private institution.

“I’m excited to be partnering with Avon on the Behind the Beauty campaign which I am sure you don’t want to miss. This will blend tutorials with inspirational and uplifting stories of successful women to be known as Behind the Beauty – an Avon YouTube Masterclass, which will be relevant for both a beginner and an expert,” Xaba told Alex News.

She said the show would feature open and honest discussions with South African personalities and celebrities about the real challenges they have faced or are facing in their lives. “Behind the Beauty aims to unmask what lies behind the personalities whom the public adore and create a community forum for inspiration to help others overcome similar barriers to success.”

In each episode, Xaba will create a unique make-up look for the guest celebrity who will be featured in that episode. While creating this look, Xaba and the guest will take time to engage in discussions around how the guest had managed to overcome the challenges of her life on the road to success, and will include Instagram livestreams.

The element of storytelling provided by the show resonates with Avon’s campaign, Watch Me Now, which is a celebration of the successes that women have achieved, and are accomplishing against all odds.
From working moms who have managed to earn a degree, the tales of an unemployed woman who has educated her children using the money she has earned as an Avon representative, to how a woman who has successfully beat breast cancer reached her dreams or how a neighbour made a life of her own after leaving an abusive partner.
