Model and actress Phillys Tsiri overcame her low self-esteem and stood in front of a camera

ALEXANDRA – The internet helped me get noticed, it became my portfolio says the model and actress.

Polokwane-born and Alexandra-based model Phillys Tebatso Tsiri excels not only in the fashion world but in the acting industry as well.

Tsiri told Alex News that she had low self-esteem before her manager, Kgopotso Bantse helped her gain modelling experience.

“My peers used to tease me for having plaque on my teeth which is why I used to doubt myself from a young age,” Tsiri said. “I resented my peers for bullying me.”

According to her, Bantse asked if she was interested in modelling because she was tall and slim.

Tsiri released her first photoshoot as a model in 2019 on online blogs and modelling contests. “The internet helped me get noticed, it became my portfolio because when people ask to see my work, I refer them to my website and social media pages.”

Last year, she transitioned into acting and began appearing as an extra in television shows such as Lingashoni, Skeem Saam, Rhythm City and Isono to name a few.

“I have always dreamed of becoming an actress, and although I am currently a ‘background’ actress I believe in taking incremental steps to achieve my dream,” said the Unisa student.

She added that her mother, Patricia had always urged her to work hard, and she strove to be the best in modelling and acting so that she could serve as a role model for those who lacked self-confidence and self-esteem.
