A prestigious award to Charles Mphephu, Alex Men’s Forum chairperson

ALEXANDRA –The volunteering that I do is not for recognition but to give back to my community, says Mphephu.

Rotary Community Corp presented Charles Mphephu (41), chairperson of Alex Men’s Forum, with the Paul Harris Fellow recognition award for the community work he has been doing in Alexandra over the years.

When a person is recognised as a Paul Harris Fellow, they are presented with a certificate signed by the Rotary International president and the chairman of the trustees of The Rotary Foundation, and a lapel pin and medallion.

The Paul Harris Fellow accolade is the highest accolade in Rotary and it can be given to a Rotarian member or a member of the community that has made a significant contribution to the community.

Mphephu gets the recognition for his leading role in Men’s Forum, an organisation that works with multiple community-based organisations committed to fighting gender-based violence.

“I was so surprised to receive this prestigious Rotary award. The volunteering that I do is not for recognition but to give back to my community, Mphephu said.

“Becoming a Paul Harris Fellow has made me realise that no act of goodwill is too little. I am inspired to inspire others to join our Rotary Community Corp group to do more in effecting positive change within Alexandra.”

Mphephu and his Men’s Forum soldiers have been Good Samaritans in Alexandra, making donations to old age homes, orphanages, and daycare centres.
