Alex creative speaks about the entertainment industry

ALEXANDRA – Talent on its own is not enough, says Alex creative.

Alex creative Innocent ‘Swarve’ Ntuli (29) has been in the entertainment industry for seven years and his journey has not been easy.

The multitalented creative first debuted in the industry in 2015 when he appeared as a radio presenter on Hillbrow Radio.

Speaking to Alex New, Swarve said the industry has not been kind to him as he had to work twice as hard as any other artist in the industry.

“My journey has not been easy but I knew that in order to succeed I had to put in the effort.

“Talent alone is not sufficient in this industry, especially if you are new and have no contacts you can easily be overlooked, even if you deliver an excellent service,” Swarve said.

Having made his mark in the radio world, Swarve moved on to present on Gomora TV, and became an artist manager and an event host.

In 2019, he partnered with Lebogang ‘DJ Rocknation’ Mathuba to launch one of the biggest events in Alex, Hip Hop Meets. The event provided upcoming rappers in Alex an opportunity to showcase their talents.

He advised upcoming creatives to balance fame with education as the entertainment industry was not a permanent career.

“The industry has become very complicated, and I comprehend that there is a need for education no matter what one does.

“A creative individual cannot rely solely on their talent, they must educate themselves according to what career path they wish to take.”

The South West Gauteng TVET college graduate said he was inspired by the late Bob Mabena to get into the industry.

“This industry needs you to surround yourself with people who inspire each other because you cannot grow if you are around negative people.”
