Alex FM’s rebuilding plans ‘elevated’

ALEXANDRA – The cry from Alex FM was so urgent we could not wait, says the bank’s chief engineering officer.

Alex FM, whose radio slogan is ‘elevate your mind’, has had its rebuilding plans elevated by a donation of computer equipment from Standard Bank to help it fulfil its community mandate.

The bank donated 13 desktops, two laptops, two printers, and all the software that goes with the donated equipment to make it functional.

Standard Bank chief engineering officer Khomotso Molabe said the equipment was sourced from the bank’s own inventory stock which had been waiting to be dispensed to employees whenever they needed new equipment.

“The cry for need from Alex FM was so urgent that we could not wait to go through the elaborate process of procurement as this would have taken us weeks on end to procure the equipment and have it finally delivered,” he said.

Molabe added that the bank had provided the services of IT specialists to ensure the equipment was immediately installed and functional in no time.

“The Alex FM donation is part of the bank’s wider initiatives to help the country to rebuild after the events of the recent looting and the outbreak of the devastating Covid-19 lockdown, which severely crippled the economy and led to massive unemployment as many companies eventually shut down.”
