Gauteng suspends all hospital visits

ALEXANDRA – Alex residents have been warned to take note of the temporary suspension of visits to Edenvale Hospital.

The Gauteng Department of Health has announced the suspension of public visits to hospitals in the province, following the spiralling Covid-19 cases in the province.

The communications manager of the Gauteng Department of Health, based at the hospital, Thabile Mkhatshwa confirmed the temporary suspension of visiting hours to the hospital which she said had been done in light of the rise in Covid-19 infections in the current third wave of the pandemic.

A statement from the department said the rise in Covid-19 cases had put a strain on the health facilities in the province. “As part of reducing the risk of our patients and visitors to the hospital from contracting the virus, the visiting times to all healthcare facilities in the province have been temporarily suspended until further notice.
