Ten men rob tenants in Tsutsumani leaving one woman injured

ALEX – The suspects also went to another rented room where one suspect fired a shot in the window aiming for a gentleman who was peeping through the window.

Detectives are investigating a robbery that took place in Extension 9, Tsutsumani on 22 April.

Alexandra Police Station’s spokesperson Sergeant Simphiwe Mbatha said the complainant alleged that she and her husband were sleeping when she and other tenants in the yard were awakened by aggressive knocking on their doors.

“A group of approximately 10 unknown [men] forced open the door into her rented room. Two suspects entered the room threatening them with firearms and ordered them to hand over their valuables. The suspects took an LG flat-screen television set valued at about R3 500, a Samsung A3 Core cell phone valued at about R1 600, and a Samsung A10 cell phone valued at about R2 100.”

Mbatha said according to the complainant, the suspects went to the opposite room and broke down the door robbing a woman of R300 in cash, and proceeded to take two small cell phones valued at about R1 500 and R200.

“The group further went to another rented room where one suspect fired a shot through the window aiming for a gentleman who was peeping through the window. The bullet missed the gentleman but hit a lady who was in bed sleeping with a small child.”

The woman was rushed to a nearby hospital with a bullet wound to the back of her shoulder.

The suspects are still at large.
