Hijackers give victim R20 to take taxi after taking his vehicle in 8th Avenue, Alexandra

8th Avenue – Alexandra Police Spokesperson Simphiwe Mbatha said that the suspects gave the victim a R20 note to take a taxi back to Alexandra.

Detectives are investigating a hijacking case that took place at the corner of 8th Avenue and Roosevelt in Alexandra.

The incident occurred at 6.30pm on 16 April.

Alexandra police spokesperson Simphiwe Mbatha said, “The complainant alleged that he was driving his white Toyota Avanza, registration number FL 89 KF GP from Pan Africa Mall.”

Mbatha said the complainant claimed he stopped at 8th Avenue and Roosevelt for a female passenger to board the taxi when three men appeared armed with firearms and pushed him into the passenger seat and drove to Johannesburg with him.

The suspects gave the complainant a R20 note to take a taxi back to Alexandra.

“The value of the car is R95 000. The complainant sustained no injuries.”
