Police detectives are investigating a murder that took place on 9 March in Alexandra.
Alexandra spokesperson Sergeant Simphiwe Mbatha said the incident took place during the early hours of Tuesday morning around 1.15am.
“A 35-year-old man was found dead on the street opposite Chiks Pub at no 123-15th Avenue. The deceased had a gunshot wound to his chest,” explained Mbatha.
Mbatha said paramedics were called to the scene and they declared him dead on arrival. Police collected one empty cartridge which was next to the deceased. The deceased’s brother was at the scene and he identified the deceased.

A murder docket was opened for further investigation. The suspect/suspects are still at large.
