A long-serving servant of the Democratic Alliance in Alexandra will finally join the list of other members who have thrown in the towel.
This is the news doing the rounds in Alexandra and when contacted by Alex News, Shadrack Mkhonto, a PR councillor who came into the limelight in Alex with his work to defuse the war that was raging in Extension 9 and 10 between the so-called landlords and tenants, has confirmed his impending departure.

“Yes, I will be leaving the DA. I will hand in my resignation on 8 March and will hold a press conference to announce my new home on 11 March,” he said.
Asked which new political home that would be, Mkhonto who was known for his hard work for the party for well over a decade said, “Come to my press conference on 11 March to hear all of that.”
Rumour has it that the Black Mamba, the Alex Mayor or the DA Alexandra Mascot, as Mkhonto has become to be known, will be joining the ‘new kid in town’, the ActionSA party led by former Johannesburg executive mayor and DA councillor Herman Mashaba.
