Self-sustenance in the horizon for Alex’s Itlhokomeleng

ALEXANDRA – I will bring you people who will teach you these self-sustenance skills, says the trust Mustafa Erogly.

The Horizon Education Trust, which jointly delivered Christmas gifts and goodies to four old age homes in Alex with the Manzi Mashatile Foundation, will return to Itlhokomeleng later in the coming year.

The Trust, which runs some private schools in South Africa, will return to the old age home to conduct self-sustenance projects.
The secretary-general of the Trust, Mustafa Erogly who accompanied ANC treasurer-general Paul Mashatile during his visit to Itlhokomeleng on 15 December, said, “I will be bringing projects such as baking, knitting, sewing and other skills that will help you to be self-sustaining in future. I will be bringing people who will teach you various skills.”

For his part, Mashatile said he would return to do other things which he could not mention for now as he was still to engage in talks with the management of the home.

“Helping people is not a once-off event. You need to assess their needs and shortcomings and see where you can fit in,” he added.

The new ‘Mother Teresa’ in the making Busisiwe Mathe, the youngest daughter of Dr Marjorie Manganye who has taken over the running of the home, thanked Mashatile for honouring her mother when she was still alive.

“I think this is truly a memorable event for my mother as she is being honoured by her own people in her backyard, let alone being there to witness it. Hats off to you Paul,” she said.
