Digify Africa celebrates SMMEs in Business Shower event

JOBURG – Resilient entrepreneurs who have been able to thrive and survive during the six months of Covid-19 lockdown restrictions have been celebrated.

Digify Africa hosted its first Boost Business Shower in Melville to honour and celebrate the resilient entrepreneurs who have been able to thrive and survive during the six months of Covid-19 pandemic lockdown restrictions.

The pandemic has dealt a hard blow to SMMEs who have been forced to innovate and adapt their business to an increasingly digitised marketplace.

As an organisation invested in creating greater access to digital skills and literacy, Digify Africa has been delivering free Boost With Facebook sessions to entrepreneurs in Alexandra and all over South Africa to help SMMEs navigate these uncertain times.

Boost With Facebook, with the support of Facebook, has been running for the past four years and the free online interactive workshops aim to empower entrepreneurs with the digital skills and literacy they need to take their hustles to the next level.

The sessions strive to give participants deeper insights into how to maximise the use of social media tools such as Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp to drive business growth. Some of the content covered in the boost included Building your online presence with Facebook, Building an effective advertising strategy, understanding Ads Manager, using WhatsApp Business, and telling your business story using Instagram.

Entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds came together to share insights and reflections of their business journey in the times of Covid-19. Participants received intense training boost sessions where they were taught valuable skills by panellists such as Khethiwe Phakathi, CEO and founder of Right Click Organisational Change; and personal development trainer Galebowe Mahlatsi, who is a partner and creative director at Thesis Lifestyle; and Diketso Setho, founder of GH Mall, an online mall that gives township businesses the opportunity to sell their products online.
