Time to Care and Paul Mashatile aim to feed 10 000 senior citizens in Alex

ALEXANDRA – Mashatile said every community member had a responsibility to ensure that senior citizens were taken care of at all times.

The African National Congress treasurer general Paul Mashatile and Time to Care non-profit organisation have embarked on a mission to feed more than 10 000 senior citizens in Alexandra.

In their efforts to eradicate hunger in disadvantaged communities, Mashatile and volunteers of Time to Care in partnership with local philanthropist Linda Twala recently visited Phuthaditjhaba Centre to serve hot meals to more than 500 senior citizens in Alexandra.

Mashatile said every community member had a responsibility to ensure that senior citizens were taken care of at all times.

“Alexandra has a lot of elderly people, some who live alone and have nobody to look after them,” he added. “I and Time to Care non-profit organisation have decided to embark on an initiative to ensure that they are being properly fed every week. We work with local community leaders to ensure that we reach them. We have set ourselves a target of 10 000 meals for senior citizens in Alexandra.”

Chairperson of the non-profit organisation, Mustafa Horizon said his organisation was committed to helping the poor, especially the youth and senior citizens.
“Our aim as an organisation is to provide humanitarian aid relief to the most deserving people and communities in South Africa,” he added “Working with local communities, we are committed to improving the lives of young local people by providing educational and scholarship needs for deserving learners and students.”
