City Power intensifies ways to recover lost revenue
JOBURG – City Power loses about R2 billion annually due to non-technical loses which include illegal connections.
City Power will in the coming week continue with its work to recover lost revenue by embarking on cut-off operations across Johannesburg.
According to the Acting Executive Mayor, Mpho Moerane, the operations will be intensified especially in suburban complexes and businesses after a successful operation in Dainfern, Fourways.

“The operation in Dainfern sought to recover about R13 million in outstanding debt. The cut-off operations will also focus on high-density townships where most residents are overloading the network due to illegal connections,” said Moerane.

Moerane added that City Power lost about R2 billion annually due to non-technical losses which included illegal connections . “The money lost could be used to reinvest in the maintenance of the infrastructure and to build more for the benefit of the city.
“The network across the city continues to perform well with fewer outages reported. The teams continue to respond to outages quickly.”
