The suspect is set to appear at the Alexandra Magistrate Court.

An Alex woman’s social evening of beer drinking with friends ended up with her being allegedly raped on 19 September in the township’s Far East Bank section.

According to Alex police spokesperson Sergeant Simphiwe Mbatha, the woman, who has since opened a case of rape and assault, was drinking beer with her friends at a local tavern when the suspect asked to join them and bought them some more beer.

Later, Mbatha said the suspect told her he wanted to talk to her privately and asked her to accompany him to his place but she refused. The suspect then allegedly assaulted her several times and took out a knife and threatened her.She eventually gave in and the pair proceeded to the suspect’s place. “On their arrival, he unlocked the door and forced her inside. He then allegedly ordered her to undress while he also did the same and then ordered her to climb onto the bed and raped her without using a condom,” Mbatha said.

When the suspect was done, Mbatha said he told the woman she was not going anywhere until the next morning. The suspect has since been arrested and will appear in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court.
