Woman carjacked at gunpoint in Alex

ALEXANDRA – Police are searching for two suspects in connection with a recent carjacking.

A woman reported that she was carjacked at gunpoint on 20 August at around 3.10pm on the corner of 1st Avenue and London Road in Alexandra.

Alexandra Police spokesperson, Sergeant Simphiwe Mbatha said that the woman told police that she was driving her black Kia Picanto along the above-mentioned road. While stationary at the robot waiting for it turns green, she was approached by two unknown male suspects. “They were both armed, they pointed their firearms at her and ordered her to get out of the vehicle. They got in her car and drove off,” continued Mbatha.

Inside the car, there was a white iPhone, wallet with no cash, coat and pink lunchbox. The value of items including the car is R140 000. The victim said she would be able to identify the suspects.

Investigations are underway.
