Shooting leaves two critically injured in Alexandra

ALEXANDRA – ER24's Russel Meiring said the men were treated and provided with advanced life support interventions before they were transported to a local hospital for further care.

A shooting that took place yesterday, 24 August has left two people critically injured in Alexandra.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said that ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at 12.42pm to find the City of Johannesburg’s EMS already in attendance. “On closer inspection, medics found the two patients in the provincial ambulance being treated by medics. On assessment, medics found that both men had sustained numerous gunshot wounds and were in a critical condition,” said Meiring.

He added that the men were treated and provided with advanced life support interventions before they were transported to a local hospital for further care.

The details surrounding this incident are not yet known, but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.

Alexandra Police Station spokesperson, Sergeant Simphiwe Mbatha said that an attempted murder docket has been opened. “We currently do not know the motive for the shooting but once the victims are able to identify the shooters, we will give an update,” added Mbatha.
