Woman robbed and assaulted at gunpoint in Alexandra

ALEXANDRA – Police are on the lookout for five suspects allegedly involved in an armed robbery case.

A 48-year-old woman reported that she was robbed and assaulted at gunpoint on 11 August at around 1pm in a petrol station in Alexandra.

The woman told Alexandra Police Station that she went to the petrol station to withdraw money at the ATM.

“When finished, she walked towards [a nearby] clinic and a white Polo VW stopped next to her and one guy jumped out of the vehicle and grabbed her and forced her into the car,” said station spokesperson, Sergeant Simphiwe Mbatha.

“Inside the car, there were three unknown male suspects and one female. One unknown male suspect assaulted her with a firearm bud on her face and drove away with her to Jukskei River and took her wallet with R3 060.”

Mbatha said the victim sustained serious injuries on her face and will be able to identify the suspects if she can see them again. A docket has been opened for further investigation.
