Man hijacked and robbed by five men in Alexandra

ALEXANDRA – The man was robbed of an iPhone 7, Fuji film camera, Huawei Y6 cellphone and a wallet with his identity book. 

Police are searching for five male suspects who are believed to have hijacked and robbed a 20-year-old man on 8 August in Alexandra.

According to Alexandra Police Station spokesperson, Sergeant Simphiwe Mbatha, the complainant said the carjacking happened at about 2.15pm at the stop sign on the corner of 12th Avenue and Selborne Street.

Mbatha added the complainant said he was driving a grey Corsa with registration number SWH 697 GP. “Five unknown males approached the complainant and got out of the white Avanza they were driving and allegedly ordered the complainant to exit the vehicle while pointing a firearm at him,” he said.

Mbatha also said two of the five men searched the complainant and are said to have taken an iPhone 7, Fuji film camera, Huawei Y6 cellphone and wallet which held the complainant’s identity book.

A case docket was opened for further investigation.
