Carter Primary School in Alexandra is the latest school to receive personal protective equipment (PPE) from the management of Dragon City.
The handover took place on 8 July and formed part of the Covid-19 relief programme that Dragon City initiated to help communities and schools that are in need of essential equipment to help curb the spread of Covid-19.
The principal of Carter Primary School, Peter Makgato said he is grateful for what the Dragon City team has done for them. Makgato explained that Dragon City first came to the school and asked what items and how many they needed.
Amongst the items delivered were 6 000 masks for the staff, 20 thermometers, five 25-litre alcohol-based sanitisers, 25 sanitiser stands and 25 litres of bleach.
“We would like to thank Dragon City for all their help and for the selfless act. We are currently preparing to bring back the Grade Rs and Grade 4s and this will go a long way. This will ensure that our kids are safe within the premises. Heartfelt gratitude also goes to all our supporters especially the man that was at the forefront with this kind of a donation, Mr Lin.”
Makgato said that acts like these are exactly what is needed to stop the spread of the virus. The school is now tasked with making sure that the school is decontaminated and that sanitisers are put up at every accessible place at the school.
Dragon City’s administration officer, Stella Ngobese said that the handover was part of the food relief programme that the company has where they give back to communities around Johannesburg and will continue to do so. “Every month we deliver to different organisations different things including food parcels, and PPE. It depends on the needs of the receiving organisation. Carter Primary school needed PPE.”
