Covid-19: 1 952 cases, 1 305 recoveries, 22 deaths in Gauteng

View the Covid-19 case breakdown in various Gauteng regions.

The Gauteng Department of Health has confirmed that there were 1 952 confirmed Covid-19 cases on 10 May, with 1 305 recoveries.

A further four deaths were reported since 9 May, bringing the total to 22 deaths in the province.

A total of 59 people are currently hospitalised in public and private facilities with the virus.

Out of a total of 9 486 contacts traced (these are individuals who were in contact with someone who tested positive for Covid-19), 7 786 people have completed the 14-day monitoring period with no symptoms and have therefore been de-isolated.

The breakdown per district is as follows:

  • Johannesburg: 1 079 cases, 838 recoveries
  • Ekurhuleni: 435 cases, 306 recoveries
  • Tshwane: 285 cases, 117 recoveries
  • Sedibeng: 26 cases, 8 recoveries
  • West Rand: 61 cases, 36 recoveries
  • Unallocated: 66
