Zenzeleni Primary School leaner fatally hit by a stray bullet while dinning at home

FAR EAST BANK – A Grade 5 learner of Zenzeleni Primary School was having dinner with her mother at home when apparently a stray bullet penetrated the roof and hit her in the head.


Alex police have opened a murder docket after an 11-year-old girl was killed by a stray bullet in Alexandra on 6 March.

It is alleged that the deceased who was a Grade 5 learner at Zenzeleni Primary School, was having dinner with her mother at home when a stray bullet penetrated the roof and hit her in the head.

Alexandra Police Station spokesperson, Sergeant Simphiwe Mbatha said the girl was rushed to Masakhane Community Health Centre in Alexandra.

“At around 11pm on 6 March, the police received [notification] that a child by the name of Sinesipho Mangaliso was declared dead by the doctor on her arrival at Masakhane clinic. Following an investigation and inspection at the victim’s house, the police discovered that there was a bullet hole in the roof which might have resulted in the killing of the 11-year-old girl,” he said.

Mbatha urged anyone with information to come forward and help the police bring the perpetrator to book.
