Cousin’s stiff sentences for murder plus other offences

ALEXANDRA – Murder and other crimes on homeboy incarcerate cousins

Two cousins convicted of multiple crimes including murder in November 2018 received lengthy sentences in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court.

Nkululeko and Kwanda Ntombela were found guilty of the crimes which occurred at night near Nobuhle hostel where among others, Nkululeko shot and killed a man.

In that incident, the cousins, Nkululeko’s girlfriend and a colleague left Madala hostel for a tavern at nearby Nobuhle hostel. They consumed brandy on the way and continued drinking while at the tavern together with the victim who they knew as a ‘homeboy’.

When they left the tavern, the woman who was walking in front with the colleague heard a confrontation and gunshots from the direction of the accused and the victim who were following behind. Soon after, the accused caught up with them and told them not to tell anyone about the incident.

Kwanda claimed the victim tried to shoot Nkululelo who in a tussle shot the victim accidentally. The cousins handed themselves in days later to the police claiming that they regretted the incident.
