Netcare hospitals are fully prepared to respond to, and manage, any cases of Covid-19

JOBURG – Netcare implemented precautionary measures that are said to be able to reduce the risk of the virus presenting in any Netcare facilities.

Netcare Group chief executive officer, Dr Richard Friedland announced that Netcare hospitals were fully equipped to deal with the coronavirus outbreak.

South Africans have been assured that during the coronavirus outbreak, they are in safe hands.

Friedland explained that Netcare formed a multi-disciplinary task team as soon as the outbreak of a new coronavirus in China was made public early in January.

Netcare implemented precautionary measures that are said to be able to reduce the risk of the virus presenting in any Netcare facilities and, if it should surface, to contain the virus and prevent it from spreading.

“We have closely cooperated with the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) and the Department of Health on an ongoing basis, and have aligned our clinical protocols for managing Covid-19 patients with their clinical guidelines,” said Friedland.

Friedland added that these measures will be used routinely and diligently by Netcare’s emergency medical personnel, doctors and hospital staff to assess whether patients who were to be admitted to any of Netcare’s facilities may have been exposed to risk factors associated with coronavirus.

“This is now a time for all South Africans to stand and work together in the knowledge that despite the myriad of challenges we continue to face, this too we will overcome,” concluded Friedland.
