Woman allegedly raped after going to suspect’s home

ALEXANDRA – Suspect wanted for rape at his Bohlabela flat.


An Alex woman was allegedly raped on 1 March at the home of a man who offered to buy her a beer at a pub.

Alex Police Station spokesperson Constable Simphiwe Mbatha said the incident which is under investigation, occurred at about 1am at the suspect’s home in Bohlabela Village, East Bank.

“The victim claimed that she was drinking alone at a pub when the suspect approached and offered to buy her a beer. Despite her declining the offer, he still bought the beer and later asked her to accompany him to his place in case she may want to visit him sometime later.”

Mbatha said on arrival at his home, the victim allegedly refused to enter and he forced her inside at knifepoint, and raped her without a condom. Afterwards, the suspect apparently forced her out of his home and tossed her clothes after her before closing the door.
