47-year-old man arrested for making bomb threats

ALEXANDRA – The suspect is accused of making three bomb threats in 2018 and 2019 respectively which lead to loss revenue for two companies. 


A 47-year-old man was arrested on 8 March for allegedly making bomb threats in 2018 and 2019.

The man is expected to make his first court appearance in the Alexandra Regional Court.

“The suspect, who is a former employee of a reputable consulting firm, was arrested on Sunday following a year-long investigation by the Gauteng Serious Organised Crime Investigation,” said Colonel Katlego Mogale on behalf of the South African Police Service.

Mogale added that the man was accused of three bomb threats in 2018 and 2019 which led to two company premises having to be evacuated and a loss of revenue for both. Another financial company which is a tenant in the same building was also heavily affected.

A number of items have been seized by the police from the man as part of the investigation.
