Twala adds his weight to Kgololo debacle

ALEXANDRA – Twala urges detractors' hands-off Kgololo

Alex township’s philanthropist Linda Twala threw his weight behind Kgololo Academy, a foundation level school he said provided local children with quality education.

This after the church-based institution, through a statement in Alex News, exposed a group of detractors who were said to have allegedly intimidated the school’s management when the group and police officers visited the school. Despite the apparent threats, school head Waahida Tolbert-Mbatha who was worried about their safety, denied them access to the academy’s documents.

“Clearly, they were on a mission they can best explain,” said Tolbert-Mbatha, urging those doubting the school’s status to come peruse the documents only in the presence of officials of the Department of Education.

After parents of the enrolled children met in support of the school, Twala weighed in and said, “Things that we believe are good, particularly for our children, should be supported and detractors should be stopped from bringing it down.”

He commended the school for offering its well-rounded programme in the township. “It is in the best interest of the township and any negative and destructive sentiments should not be allowed to tarnish and destroy such an investment which will be embraced easily in other areas.”

Twala added that those who doubted the school’s legitimacy should have followed proper channels in investigating its status. He said the alleged intimidation, instead, created uncertainty and instability after some of the staff members were considering leaving.

“As concerned residents, we are watching and will ensure the safety of the institution and its members. When the government finally provides land to depopulate the township, schools like Kgololo should be included in the development plans.”
