Galxcoc, Roots Butchery and Alex Mall give a heart-warming gifts to Alex learners

ALEXANDRA – A manager at Roots Butchery said the business has a responsibility to give back to the community and play a pivotal role to uplift the community that keeps their businesses growing.


Learners from disadvantaged families from Alexandra received a boost from the local chamber of commerce and local business.

Galxcoc, Roots Butchery and Alex Mall extended a helping hand to learners whose parents could not afford to buy them new school bags this year. More than 300 learners from Gordons, Ikage and Zenzeleni primary schools received brand-new school bags this year.

Kelvin Ferreira, a manager at Roots Butchery at Pan Africa shopping centre said the business has a responsibility to give back to the community and play a pivotal role to uplifts the community that keep their businesses growing.

“Roots Butchery understands that without community, the business will not exist. We initiated this campaign two years ago after we realised that there were children who still use plastic bags to carry their books. Because we understand the pain of not having, we decided to embark in the campaign to lend a helping hand in partnership with the local chamber of commerce,” Ferreira said.

Alex Mall marketing manager Lilly Bophela said Roots Butchery partnerships and the mall are always aimed at giving back to the community, especially the poor.

“The relationship between the community and Alex Mall is that of a win-win affair. It is through initiatives like this one that we are able to show our appreciation for their daily support.”

Bophela also urged other businesses operating in the area to lend a helping hand and help those who need it to buy things like stationery and school bags.
