ALEXANDRA – 'We said we will come back and talk to you about crime that has taken its toll here in Alexandra.'

The Deputy Minister of Police Cassel Mathale has implored the entire community of Alexandra to work hand in hand with the police and law enforcement agencies to curb crime in the area. During a visit to the family of Samantha Radebe who was shot and killed by the police on 15 January this year in Tsutsumani, the Minister of Police Bheki Cele and Mathale promised the community of Alexandra to come back and have engagements with residents. We said we will come back and talk to you about crime that has taken its toll here in Alexandra. We promised to come back with the feedback in regard to the case of Samantha and others that has not been resolved. “The Ipid, the National Prosecuting Authority and police national commissioner are also here to give you an update and explain to you what is going to happen going forward. But this task will not be done without your help as the community of Alex. We call upon all of you to work with the police and CPF in a fight against crime. On our own, as police and other law enforcement agencies, we cannot win this battle.” Mathale added that no case will be thrown out of the window because it was badly prepared or due to lack of evidence. He said his department is working closely with the National Prosecuting Authority to ensure that cases go to court and that justice is served for both victims and alleged perpetrators.
