CEO of Black Rose Academy, Marks Bernards said they were humbled by the reaction and support they received from the community. “We started Black Rose Academy as young people in 2012 as a vehicle of change for the local entertainment industry. We realised that youngsters from Alexandra were struggling to make their dreams come true because they lacked support and mentorship. We are humbled by the support we’ve received at this year’s event,” Bernards said.

The winners will work with young people in the area to help them ‘up their game’ in their respective fields of interest like sports, dance, music and poetry.

“We gave all the winners a mission to help their peers in different fields. Some will be involved in sports, music and dance while others will be tasked to educate and raise awareness about the dangers that unwanted waste posed to the environment if not taken care of.”
