I won’t stop doing good things because of unfulfilled promises

ALEXANDRA– Kosa said he remembers the incident as it was yesterday and he doesn't regret his brave action to save the boy.

A brave man who saved a young boy from being swept away by a swollen Jukskei River in March this year said he was still waiting for the promised call from authorities who promised to do something to help him change his life.

The father of two from Mozambique, Vincent Kosa became an overnight hero for his brave action after he saved Mpilo Ngubane. He also received a special visit from the then MEC for Community Safety in the province, Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane.

During Nkosi-Malobane’s visit, Kosa gave the MEC a wish list which included getting legal immigration papers, a better house and a job to support his family.

Kosa who lives in a one-room shack on the banks of Jukskei River in Stjwetla informal settlement said, “I received a call from a person who said he was calling from one of the government departments and promised to come and see me so that we can work out what I have asked for. From that day, I’ve never heard from him or the MEC. Maybe the MEC forgot about me and I hope they will return to me one day as they promised.”

Kosa said he met Mpilo and his mother after the incident and he never heard from her again.
