Non-profit organisations and local businesses throws a birthday party for 101-year-old gogo

RIVER PARK– Molokomme could not hold her tears of joy when the humanitarian aid organisation Gift of the Givers donated a brand new wheelchair.

The management of shopping centre, Alex Mall in partnership with non-profit organisations, Momba Foundation and Gift of the Givers Foundation, and the business community showered gogo Ruth Molokomme with gifts on her 101st birthday.

Molokomme celebrated her birthday on 21 September at her house with the community of River Park.

Last year, the Premier of Gauteng David Makhura and Momba Foundation celebrated the 100th birthday of Molokomme and promised to do it again this year.

Local businesses and non-profit organisations showered Molokomme with a gift which included a brand new double bed from The Bed Shop, bedding from Pep Home Store, while Clicks donated cosmetics. Hardware merchandiser Builders Warehouse gave a new look to the gogo’s RDP house with a coat of paint.

Molokomme could not hold back her tears of joy when the humanitarian aid organisation Gift of the Givers donated a brand new wheelchair and Alex Mall Pick n Pay brought her a special birthday cake.

“I lost my walking stick earlier this year and walking around the house was really a challenge for me. This wheelchair will make things easier for me to drive around the yard. I am truly delighted and grateful for what these people did for me,” Molokomme said.

Nkiyase Mondlana of Momba Foundation thanked all parties involved for their contributions in ensuring that Molokomme’s birthday was a special and memorable one.
