A South African non-profit organisation Feed SA in partnership with local philanthropist and business mogul Linda Twala donated 1 500 sanitary packs to East Bank High School learners.
According to Romi Levenstein from Feed SA, the initiative was part of the organisation’s this year Mandela Day 67 minutes programme.
“Our organisation strongly believes in education and lending a helping hand to the community. We feed a number of communities across the country where people have nothing to eat almost every day. With this initiative, we partnered with the local philanthropist Linda Twala to identify the school in which we can donate these sanitary packs for school children,” Levenstein said.
She said the organisation brought along two well-known artists like Leslie Mampe better known as Da L.E.S and DJ Arch Junior to inspire and encourage the youngsters to strive for success in everything they do.
Grade 11 learner at the school Refilwe Motshegwe said the donated packs will go a long way for her since it contained a number of most-needed female essentials in it.
“The pack contains a lot of essentials staff like lotion, sanitary towels, and bath soaps. This will go a very long way for me and I believe for other girls as well. We hope that the organisation that donated these things will come back because soon this will finish,” she said.
