Metrobus resumes services after strike

JOBURG – Demawusa returns to work after a week of industrial action against Metrobus.

Metrobus is relieved to inform its commuters that the recent industrial action led by Demawusa has ended.

Democratic Municipal and Allied Workers Union of South Africa (Demawusa) embarked on a protected strike on 16 September. According to a statement from Metrobus, their management referred the matter to the labour court for a speedy resolution to the impasse.

The court judgement handed down on 20 September prevents Demawusa from continuing with the industrial action.

Even though the strike ended on 20 September, it resumed on 23 September and only a few buses were available. Today, 25 September, all busses are available.

Metrobus wishes to apologize to all commuters for the inconvenience caused during the five days of none bus operations.
