Soweto man’s toy gun robbery lets him down

ALEXANDRA – Early morning robbery backfires for toy gun holder.


A Soweto man who attempted a house robbery with a toy gun will rue his effort after he was overpowered by his victims.

The accused Thabiso Mokwena of Pimville is pending judgement in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court for the crime which occurred in the morning in Kelvin.

A worker at the home was standing at the open door of his room when he saw the accused jump over the wall and into the property. The accused ran to the worker and pointed a gun at him. He forced him into a side room and locked him inside. Moments later the worker heard screaming in the main house.

He kicked open the door and ran to the house where he found the homeowner tussling with the accused. The two overcame the accused and called the police who arrested him. The gun was found to be a toy.
