8 suspects arrested for diesel theft

JOHANNESBURG – The eight suspects arrested include security personnel contracted to guard Metrobus facilities and foreign nationals.


Metrobus announced on 8 August that eight suspects were arrested for the theft of more than 2 000 litres of diesel at one of its depots.

According to a statement released by Goodwill Shivuri of the communications office of Metrobus, the arrests were a result of the sterling work of Metro police and an indication of the benefits of smart technology which is intended to keep the residents and property of the city safe, while clamping down on criminality.

Shivuri added that Metrobus would fully cooperate with authorities investigating this matter to ensure all involved in the crime were brought to book.

The eight suspects arrested included security personnel contracted to guard Metrobus facilities. While investigations are underway, Metrobus will continue to operate normally.
