Man’s radio haul ends in cuffs

ALEXANDRA – Boom gates thwart car radio thief.

A man found guilty of breaking into and stealing from a motor vehicle was imprisoned for two years by the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court.

Stephen Ncube (22) was sentenced after he admitted to the offences which occurred at night on 24 May in Marlboro. The victim, who was visiting a friend, left his Toyota Corolla motor vehicle locked and parked outside. A while later, he returned and found the vehicle broken into and its entire radio system, worth R8 000, missing. Security alerted of the incident spotted and arrested the accused as he tried to exit the boom-controlled streets in the area. The stolen items were all recovered.
