Commuters in Alexandra have been affected ahead of the #AlexTotalShutdown round two with public transport suspended in the area. There is a high presence of police in and around Alexandra the township.
Alexandra Police Station Spokesperson Captain Stephen Malatjie said police were monitoring the situation to ensure that the rights of members of the public were not infringed upon by those who will be marching.

The marchers have made their way to the Region E offices on Daisy Street in Sandton.
JMPD spokesperson Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said about 200 protestors are present at the Region E office.
A spokesperson for #AlexTotalShutDown protest Bobby Solomons says they don’t know what’s happening as gates of Region E offices are closed but they will stay until they’re addressed. He suggested that if there are some members of the #AlexTotalShutDown who are allegedly part of corruption at the Alexandra Renewal Project, that they should be arrested.

There have been reports of protesters burning tyres and block roads around the township, with residents protesting against illegal structures in the area.

The chief coordinator of the Shutdown Movement Sandile Mavundla said protesters will converge in Sankopano Community Centre and march to the city’s regional offices in Sandton at around 10 am.
