Residents advised to rely on 10111

ALEXANDRA – Police have urged residents to report crime through the correct channels to ensure a quick response.

The Alexandra Police Station has urged residents to report crime through 10111 to enable the police to respond quickly.

This was said by station spokesperson Captain Stephen Malatji in response to concerns raised about police delay in attending to reported cases. “Some residents call me or, other officers they know and also the Alex FM radio station mistakenly thinking that we will fast-track their cases.”

He urged them to also call the station directly through 011 321 7719, 011 321 7718 or 011 321 7623. “The station and 10111 number operate 24/7 and the reported cases are attended to by officers in vehicles equipped with tracking equipment which will be nearest to the crime scene.”

He added that the logged cases were also reviewed at management meetings to assess their conclusion.
