Siblings’ Alex murder trial extends to KZN

ALEXANDRA – Alex murder weapon traded for R1000 loan leads to KZN trial.

A man who bought a gun stolen from a victim murdered in Alexandra will appear at the Verulam Magistrates’ Court, KwaZulu-Natal, on 4 June.

He is charged with the illegal possession of the gun and ammunition robbed from the victim and used to kill him by two brothers who are appearing on murder and robbery charges at the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court.

The incident occurred on a morning in November last year when the siblings, the deceased, a girlfriend of one of the accused and another man were walking home after a drinking spree at Nobuhle Hostel.

The woman, who was walking in front with one of the suspects, fled when she heard gunshots from behind. She heard the brothers telling the other man not divulge what he had seen.

Later, the siblings ran to her asking for money to board a taxi to the Joburg CBD and she gave it them. A tip-off to the police led to the men’s arrest in Berea days later.

They were without the gun, registered to the deceased, which investigators found to have been exchanged with the KwaZulu-Natal man for a repayable loan of R1 000. He was traced and arrested.
