Joburg Water is conducting an awareness campaign for local SMMEs to register with the CSD
JOBURG – Businesses and organisations interested in providing services to the government have been urged to register with the Central Supplier Database registrar.
Johannesburg Water announced that they will be conducting an awareness campaign on 19 June for local small, medium and micro-sized enterprises (SMMEs) to register and comply with the Central Supplier Database (CSD) requirements across the City of Johannesburg.
The CSD is a database of organisations, associations and people who are keen to provide their products and services to the government. Service providers interested in working with the government have been urged to register with the database registrar.
Communications manager of Joburg Water, councillor Isaac Dhludhlu, explained why registrations and education seminars take place. “Johannesburg Water needs to comply with the Preferential Procurement Policy Framework Act (PPPFA) on the subject of subcontracting. To have subcontractors registered with CSD is also a requirement by the national treasury.”
He added that the main reasons for such an implementation are to minimise fraud and corrupt practices, encourage accountability and empower the disadvantaged.
To register with CSD, individuals must have the following Sars documents: Their tax reference number, CIPC documents, CIDB documents and BBBEE information (if available).
The awareness session will take place at 9.30am on 19 June at Joburg Water’s head offices on 17 Harrison Street, Marshalltown, Johannesburg.
