Tit for tat shooting ends in death

A case of murder between alleged acquaintances is playing out at the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court.

The incident seemingly resulted in the accused’s relatives seeking temporary refuge elsewhere after the victim’s friends allegedly broke windows and damaged vehicles and other assets at his home. This was after he went to report the incident and hand himself in at the Alex Police Station following the incident which occurred on the weekend of 18 May.

The two acquaintances are said to have argued and then hit each other. The confrontation escalated to a shoot-out after the deceased went to a vehicle and allegedly returned with a gun he fired at the accused. In turn, the accused ran to another vehicle and returned also allegedly armed. The tit for tat firing ended in the fatal shooting.

The guns were not found and profiles conducted on the men revealed that none of them were registered to possess a firearm.
