Cell C’s bursary fund beneficiary lauds the cellular network company for her success

ALEXANDRA – She attributed her success to the cellular network company and the support from her family.

One of the first beneficiaries of Cell C’s Girl Child Bursary Fund, Nelisiwe Mfabe, has urged youngsters to associate themselves with positive people and focus on what they want to achieve in life.

The fund is a financial resource which helps disadvantaged young women in the country with their tertiary education fees.

The 24-year-old Mfabe from East Bank, Alexandra is a Liberty Combine alumni and recently graduated in advertising and marketing communication at AAA School of Advertising. “The bursary scheme changed my life for the better. I remember that I was in a serious financial crisis when Cell C and Tomorrow Trust came to my rescue,” she said.

“I learned about the bursary scheme when things were tough and I was even prepared to quit my studies because of financial difficulties and constant illness. I was studying and working at the time because my parents were unable to pay for all my education needs.

“One of the school staff members told me about this bursary scheme from Cell C. I applied, though I was reluctant to do so. I just thought I wasn’t good enough to get a bursary.”

She said the bursary scheme not only changed her life for the better but made her feel like a rich student. “The bursary paid for everything, from accommodation to books, tuition fees, and food. I felt like a child from a rich family because I lacked nothing.”

Mfabe currently works as a freelance social media marketing officer while looking for a job in the marketing industry. She also partnered with her sister to start a fashion design business recently.

She attributed all her success to the support of the cellular network company and the support of her family.
