Jozi Connect launch inaugural meeting to share ideas

BEREA – The platform provides an opportunity for service providers to work out of isolation.

As part of sharing daily challenges and positives in their quest to assist needy people in the City of Johannesburg, Jozi Connect held their first ‘uniting’ meeting to share ideas.

Jozi Connect it is an initiative by Sally du Plessis and Kate Rowe, who run non-governmental organisations within the city.

On 15 May, they held their launch at Tudhope Gardens in Berea and over 50 similar organisations were invited to participate in the various discussions impacting their work in society.

According to Du Plessis, the idea of the launch was to unite the inner city’s NGOs, NPOs and various other similar organisations to share their ideas, and discuss their challenges and positives.

“Jozi Connect has been set up to provide a safe and connected space for people working in NPOs, charities, social enterprises and relevant organisations,” said Du Plessis.

“This is to make them aware of what others are doing in the Johannesburg inner city and to connect and collaborate. In doing so, Jozi Connect hopes to assist in strengthening and multiplying the amazing work already being done in serving the community that is in Jozi.”

Du Plessis added that this platform provides an opportunity to work out of isolation and, rather, in one of support.

Ishmael Mkhabela and Anne Steffny of The Johannesburg Inner City Partnership were present to show their support.

Rosie in Jozi Caterers added a true Jozi vibe, with Rose Joware, aka ‘The Wonderbag Lady’, serving traditional fare to delighted participants.
